Fully Integrated Holistic Mediumship and Spiritual Development

The Road Less Travelled - Developing Your Mediumship

As you begin or continue your journey of Mediumship Development and Spiritual Development it is important that you consider the following.

Choose Wisely

Your Mediumship will evolve over time and may take on different unexpected forms therefore you will need a mentor or mentors to help you along your path, so choose wisely. You will not be able to reach your full potential without effective help and guidance. Without a doubt, each medium’s journey is their own, however, much time and effort can be wasted, and disappointments encountered, many of which can be avoided with the help of an experienced mentor. Choose a mentor who is kind and generous, good-humoured and patient, ethical and moral, experienced and skilled, well-trained and thoughtful, empathic and reflective but also, courageous. A mentor willing to tell you the truth, support you through your difficult times, help you overcome psychological and interpersonal blocks and help you become more than they are. A mentor that is not limited by their own ego but lives in service to Spirit, God and others.

You build your own life and write your own story... Do it with Grace.

Like-Minded People

Immerse yourself in the community that is spiritualism. Surround yourself with like-minded people who are either practising mediums or who are on a journey of becoming a medium. Share in their experiences and share yours. Shared trials and tribulations, struggles and successes, will ground you and help you realise the true nature of the path that you have chosen. It will allow you to understand both the difficulties and the joy of being in service to spirit, God and others.

Spiritual Practice

Mediumship is without doubt a spiritual practice and should not be considered otherwise. It is only through recognising and working with our embodied essential spiritual nature that we can effectively draw close to the spirit world. Without a spiritual practice that enhances one’s spiritual connection both internally and externally, achieving one’s full potential will be difficult.

Widen your experiences

Experience the lives of others in the world and read as widely as you can. You will have spirit communicators different to yourself and you will need to understand what they are trying to communicate. A wide framework of understanding and experience will allow you to understand others better.

Deepen your physical senses

Seek better clarity through your physical senses by focusing your attention throughout your day on your physical sensations and experiences. By increasing your ability to focus and pay attention in the moment you will be more receptive to your spirit communicator.

Improve your mental acuity

There is no need to race through a spirit link and blurt out information. However, the ability to bring as much experience and understanding into the moment so that the communicator’s information can be properly understood and communicated to its recipient will be a boon to your mediumship.

Develop Healthy Psychology

Mental and emotional issues are a distraction and hindrance during mediumship. To be able to convey a message from a spirit communicator to the recipient there is a need for the medium to have confidence in their ability and belief in themselves. A mentor who has experience in overcoming psychological issues or a psychological therapist may help you to remove psychological and relational blockages so that your communicators can shine through your mediumship.

Physical and Mental Fortitude and Health

Being a medium is demanding work and you will need to be reliable. Mental and physical resistance is important so take good care of yourself. You are important to spirit, so please honour that and rest, eat well, do exercise and avoid that which is unhealthy as best you can. Be uplifted and joyful in your days and appreciate all that you have and can give.

Egoism and Ego Centric

Ego is a significant problem for Personal Development, Spiritual Development and especially Mediumship Development. Over the many years that Suzanne has focussed on Development, both her and her clients and students and in observation of other Mediums, therapists and Tutors, she has observed that with the rise of ego there is an opposite fall in development. Thus, it is not unusual in the world of Spiritualism to see or hear about wonderful professional Medium’s or extremely promising student Medium’s who saw to amazing heights only for some reason, then drop away. This loss of ability or spirit connection happens because, we are just people, frail and foolish, we sometimes allow success to go to our heads. With the growth of Ego Centricism, one tends to become trapped in one’s head and then fearful of losing what one believes that one has gained.

Egoism, results in communication becoming focused on the medium to the detriment of the spirit communicator and the recipient. Thus spirit has a tendency to move away from such situations until the Medium has regrounded themselves regaining their spiritual footing.

The Fear that comes out of Egoism is to fear the potential loss of status or performance anxiety. Again, this will serve as a block, as one is no longer present with the spirit communicator and instead focussed on fear. Rather than just trust in the spirit communicator, fear then acts as a filter reducing the quality of the messages resulting in a self-fulfilling prophecy.

However, do not despair. Once one realises the problem and moves away from Ego and back towards the joy of service and trust in spirit, one’s ability and connection to spirit will be renewed. And perhaps, better than before having made a journey of growth and development to achieve it.

Embody Positivity and Appreciation

Despite life often being difficult and work hard, try, as best you can to embody positivity and appreciation. In working with the general public, lay people and other mediums, it is important to carry yourself with dignity, respect, kindness, generosity, moral integrity, compassion, empathy, appreciation and courage. Not only will you meet people at their best but also at their worst. Therefore rather than swinging from pillar to post, dependent on the mood of others and the circumstance you find yourself in. There is a need to maintain a genuine sense of self that is both positive and appreciative but also independent and consistent. Always remember that you are in the care of spirit and God, and no matter what happens you are Loved. Embody and project that Love. One does not need to provide empty platitudes to others who may be suffering or who have lost someone. People will gravitate to you not because you espouse empty platitudes, but rather because they realise that you are a human being who like them has experienced life in all its forms, and yet you are able to maintain a genuine welcoming and warm spirit. To smile through difficult times is not to ignore difficulty or pretend it does not exist but instead to accept the difficulty and find opportunity within it. Being a medium is not only to work with spirit, but you are also an example to others of what it is to be spiritual. To live within the grace of spirit and God is not to judge circumstance prematurely from a position of fear, want or misunderstanding, but instead to understand that there is purpose and meaning in life. Even in the darkness, there is light and you, as a medium, are representative of that light.

Live in the light of Spirit and God and you will be raised up.
